Security teams are being asked to hand real work to AI agents. Triage. Exploitability analysis. Remediation. Generating pull requests against production code. The questions that follow are: how do you govern AI agents and AI development, are they audited, and against what standard?
Cycode now has a verifiable answer. We have achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification, the international standard for AI management systems. Cycode is the first Agentic Development Security Platform to achieve the certification.
What ISO/IEC 42001 certifies
ISO/IEC 42001 was published in December 2023 as the first certifiable management system standard for artificial intelligence. It sits alongside ISO/IEC 27001 in structure and intent. Where 27001 certifies an Information Security Management System, 42001 certifies an Artificial Intelligence Management System, or AIMS.
ISO/IEC 42001 certifies that an organization’s AI development and deployment approaches meet a globally recognized standard for policies, risk and impact assessments, accountability structures, data governance, testing regimes, incident response, and improvement cycles that sit behind every AI system the organization builds and ships.
Certification is not a self-attestation. It is granted by an accredited third-party certification body and follows a defined path. The certificate is valid for three years and requires annual surveillance audits to stay active. Continuous improvement is built into the standard, which is the part that matters most for a company shipping AI capabilities on a fast release cycle.

Why ISO/IEC 42001 is the trust signal for the AI era
Every security buyer knows the questionnaire ritual. SOC 2 Type II. ISO 27001. Penetration test summary. Sub-processor list. Those are table stakes for the enterprise procurement cycle.
The questionnaire has changed. Buyers now want to know how a vendor’s AI reaches decisions, what data informed it, whether a person can intervene, and whether the system can be constrained or shut down. Most vendors have a marketing paragraph about responsible AI. Few have third-party verified certification.
For a security leader, this changes a specific conversation. When your board, your auditor, or your own third-party risk team asks how the AI inside your development security stack is governed, the answer is an independently verified management system, not a vendor’s word.
We hold our AI to the highest standard, so you can secure yours
Cycode covers many facets of AI security. We govern the AI your developers use, secure the AI applications they develop, and deploy agents so your security team can keep pace. This certification is what it looks like when a company takes those aspects seriously enough to be audited on them.
Consider the authority agents carry. They reason over source code, pipelines, dependency graphs, and secrets. Cycode agents confirm exploitability, trace blast radius, identify ownership, generate fixes, and open pull requests. Our guardrails block risky patterns at the IDE and CLI before they enter the codebase. That is real influence over the software factory, and it should come with real accountability.
We built the platform that way from the start. The Context Intelligence Graph produces decision traces, a persistent and auditable record of why an agent acted or declined to act. Deterministic constraints keep agents inside policy. Autonomy at Cycode has always meant oversight made operational under human control. ISO/IEC 42001 is the external validation of a governance model the product was already designed around.
It also means we are setting the example for responsible AI development, so we can empower customers to achieve the same. When Cycode discovers shadow AI in your environment, enforces policy on AI-generated code, or produces an AIBOM for your AI systems, that capability now comes from a company whose own AI governance has been through the same kind of audit. Proactively certifying rather than reactively meeting requirements evidences our leadership and commitment to secure software development in the AI era.
